Brett Steenbarger

Brett Steenbarger, Ph.D., has been actively involved in the financial markets since the late 1970s. A clinical psychologist by training, he has been an active trader, writer and researcher. His main areas of interest are the psychology of trading, trader performance, and statistical trading research. He has authored several trading publications, including The Psychology of Trading, Enhancing Trader Performance, The Daily Trading Coach and numerous trading articles. In addition he has written over 50 peer-reviewed professional publications in psychology and psychiatry. He maintains an extensive archive of free trading articles and research at http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/

Perhaps his best known book is The Psychology of Trading. In it Dr. Brett reviews “Tools and Techniques for Minding the Market”. As he states: “Successful market participants seek out their weaknesses and learn when they fail. Unsuccessful ones avoid their shortcomings and, thus, fail to learn.” He advocates that all traders should activate and befriend their “Internal Observer” by being always mindful of what they are doing in the marketplace by “watching yourself watch yourself” as you trade. Good traders become good as they “transform their approach to risk and reward.”

All of his books and websites are packed with useful, practical information. He writes in an earthy, informative and flowing style that impels the reader to higher achievement. Dr. Brett easily makes it into the safe-options-trading Hall of Fame.
